The Spouse Visa: Joining or Staying with Your Partner in the UK
The Spouse Visa route is designed for individuals who are married to British or Irish citizens, UK settlers, individuals with pre-settled status, holders of a Turkish Businessperson or Turkish Worker visa, as well as individuals with refugee status or humanitarian protection. It enables them to join or remain with their spouse in the UK. The UK Spouse Visa route offers the potential for indefinite leave to remain or settlement after a period of 5 years.
If either of the parties have previously been married, they need to prove that any previous marriages or civil partnerships have ended.
Spouse Visa Assistance: Simplifying the Application Process
- Financial requirement:
In addition to proving your relationship requirement, you and your partner must also prove that you satisfy the minimum income requirement of at least £18,600 a year. You must prove that you have extra money if you have children who are not British or Irish citizens, do not have pre-settled status and are not permanently settled in the UK. - Adequate accommodation:
Additionally, you would be required to show that you would live in an adequate accommodation with your partner upon your arrival to the UK. - English language test:
You may also need to prove your knowledge of the English language when you apply, for example with an academic qualification or by taking an approved English language test. - Tuberculosis test:
You would also be required to provide your tuberculosis test result if you are from a country where you have to take the test.
